Customer Service Excellence Accreditation for St Leger Homes of Doncaster

St Leger Homes of Doncaster – the organisation that manages just under 21,000 homes for Doncaster Council – was inspected during January and of the 57 standards it had to meet, 47 were fully met and the other ten were compliant plus – meaning the company was doing over and above what it is expected to do and shows that tenants are at the heart of everything it does.

St Leger Homes received praise from the inspector for a range of initiatives and services including its in-depth understanding of customers, commitment to customers, valuing staff contributions and ensuring information is relevant and meets customers’ needs.

This accreditation comes just months after the company was awarded three stars from the Audit Commission – the highest award possible.  In 2009 the company also received TPAS (Tenant Participation Advisory Service) accreditation, which at the time made them one of only 15 housing organisations in the country to receive this award. The TPAS award shows that the company works with tenants getting their views on the services they provide, ensuring that they have the opportunity to help shape the way the business develops.

Susan Jordan, chief executive of St Leger Homes, said: “This is our third accreditation and is fantastic news for tenants and shows them that our staff do their best to provide excellent services for them. I also want to thank staff for all of their hard work – it is their hard work that is winning us this recognition.”

St Leger Homes have been providing e-learning to their tenants through the Housing e-Academy’s Tenant Plus package since 2009. With courses such as ‘Climbing the Career Ladder’, ‘Fire Safety’, ‘First Aid – Primary Survey’, ‘Healthy Living’ and ‘Managing a Home’, St Leger Homes have ensured that their tenants have access to training opportunities to benefit them.

The e-learning is all accessed via the internet so is also a great way for tenants to increase their IT skills while they learn. The courses can be accessed anywhere with an internet connection and learners receive a certificate upon successful completion.
